As a child, the foundation's founder would find solace beneath the comforting shade of a willow tree in her grandmommy's backyard. The gentle rustle of leaves and the distant sound of trains passing by seemed to enhance the serenity of those moments.
That willow tree, with its protective branches embracing her as she read, pondered, or simply daydreamed, became a tangible symbol of her grandmommy's unwavering love and presence—a presence that has stayed with her long after granmommy's transition to another plane. Grandmommy was a safe harbor, a wise guide through life's complexities, and a source of joy and peace in any circumstance.
It was beneath that willow tree that she learned the profound concept of being the very support for others that she once needed during the darkest hours of her childhood. Grandmommy taught her that we are all interconnected, beloved children of One Almighty God, and that our purpose on this magnificent planet is to walk each other home. Regardless of our differences in appearance, language, or lifestyle, we are all one, united in our journey of growth and discovery.
